A Cockroach Stole the Show at the Met Gala

An unlikely star of the 2023 Met Gala red carpet was not a celebrity in couture. It was a cockroach that distracted the crowd patiently waiting for singer Rihanna’s arrival to the Upper East Side museum.

Variety first posted a video of the cockroach running up the steps as photographer Kevin Mazur took a close up shot on his camera.

They later reported that the cockroach had been stepped on.

Elton John- A Letter to My Sons on My 75th Birthday

Dear Zachary and Elijah,

Do you remember the first time you saw me on stage? We were in Las Vegas in 2018, and your Papa brought you to the show. You were amazed by it all, the lights and the costumes and the crowd. Afterward, you both said: “I didn’t know Daddy could do that.”

Once upon a time, I didn’t know I could do it, either. You’re 11 and 9 years old now, and when I was your age, I could never have dreamed where life would take me. Looking back over the past 75 years, there is so much I am proud of, so much I have learned. As you are the two most precious parts of my life, I want to share some of those lessons with you.

When I was young, I was told to fit in, to do what others expected even when it didn’t feel right. Now I rea…

Bad Bunny on Coachella and Life on Top

In early March, TIME sat down with global music sensation Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, also known as Bad Bunny, as he was preparing to perform at Coachella—the first Latino artist to headline the prominent music festival. During a wide-ranging interview for a TIME cover story, Martínez Ocasio spoke candidly about his life, his music, and spending more of his time these days in Los Angeles, a place he “always dreamed of going” as a chamaquito (a little boy) growing up in Puerto Rico. He also addressed his burgeoning acting career, along with the responsibility he feels as a reggaetonero who is often asked to speak for an entire region.

The following transcript has been condensed, edited for clarity, and translated into English. For the Sp…

Goldman Sachs CEO on Whether Companies Should Ostracize Russia

(To receive weekly emails of conversations with the world’s top CEOs and business decisionmakers, click here.)

Goldman Sachs chief executive David Solomon delivered an unusually expressive message late last week as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine intensified.

“None of us can fail to see this for what it is: the invasion of a sovereign state, as flagrant a violation of international law as any we’ve seen in recent memory,” he wrote in a missive to the firm’s global staff of about 40,000. “Our hearts go out to the Ukrainian people and all those standing in harm’s way—their bravery and resilience are an inspiration to the world.”

In his memo, Solomon said the 153-year-old banking giant is &ldqu…

Bob Iger’s Predictions About His Successor Were Prescient

Late in 2019, during a conversation with TIME, longtime Disney CEO Bob Iger outlined the key qualities he thought his successor would need. By that time Iger had already outlasted—or moved along—several of his would-be successors, and he was very tight-lipped on who would be replacing him when his contract expired in 2020.

His ultimate choice, Bob Chapek, who had previously been in charge of Disney’s parks division, abruptly left the company on Nov. 20 after fewer than three years, and was replaced by Iger, which surprised everybody— including, reportedly, Iger. But looking back at his words from three years ago, Iger seemed to quite clearly predict why Chapek didn’t work out.

He suggested that there were four key qualities a new Disney chief ne…
